Welcome to the website of the District of Durham in the Order of Royal and Select Masters.

The Order provides an opportunity for members to further their Masonic knowledge and development by partaking in uplifting ceremonies and enjoying the same refreshment and fellowship as in the other Orders in masonry. Its commitment to charitable principles is clearly demonstrated in its care for members and their dependants, and in its support for local non-masonic charities.

The areas covered by Districts are, in the main, representative of the counties as they were in the early part of the 19th century. Thus the District of Durham covers the area between the River Tyne and River Tees, up to the Pennines in the west, including the boroughs of Sunderland, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Darlington, Stockton-on-Tees and Hartlepool.
